Roy v Danny...this Wednesday

Should be an interesting fight this Wednesday evening (Taipei time). The legendary Roy Jones Jnr. takes on Australia's own "Green machine" Danny Green, trying to wrest his world Cruiserweight title. Roy doesn't have this weight division crown and wants it to complete his unique set from middleweight all the way to heavyweight. Here's some commentary...

I hate Brock Lesnar

I hate Brock Lesnar. What a wanker. I'm looking forward to UFC 102 this Saturday when hopefully, "the natural" can beat Nogueira and then challenge Lesnar in an upcoming UFC.

What else can we do? Assassinate him? Maybe we can tempt one of those big Klitschko brothers across to MMA to give us some sweet satisfaction. Please Dana White, pay Fedor anything he wants, just get him in the octagon against this big loser. Please!

Mundine world title...again

Anthony "The Man" Mundine won a brutal brawl with Daniel Geale last night to snare the IBO middleweight title. He is now number 1 ranked contender for both Pavlik (WBC and WBO champ) and also Felix Sturm (WBA champion). According to the Sydney Morning Herald, "The win gives Mundine the rare distinction of being a world titleholder in dual weight divisions, making the former NSW Origin star one of Australia's greatest boxers and sportsmen of all time". UFC 98

Just a week till UFC 98...might be able to stream this one, a possibility anyway as UFC 97 was uploaded to a live stream by a few snoopys.

Ming Wu 4: awesome!

WOW! We had a great time down in Hsinchu at Ming Wu 4. Standard of fighters was higher than we expected and it was incredibly well organized. High speed rail there and back, Ivo, Dave, Wol and SBF had a few sherbets to get in the mood, met Chrisanne there as well, and generally had a great day. Bring on Ming Wu 5! Mundine wins first middleweight bout

Danny Green will have to wait after Anthony Mundine last night won his first middleweight bout to set up a world title fight with Germany's WBA champion Felix Sturm. Here's the article.

Affliction

Want to know where all those UFC legends have gone? Affliction had its first outing in July and Fedor Emelianenko dismantled former UFC heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia in just 36 seconds.
The star-studded card also featured victories by Andrei Arlovski, Josh Barnett, Renato "Babalu" Sobral, Matt Lindland, and Vitor Belfort, among others.

Next one is this Saturday, 24 January. Fedor is fighting Arlovski as the headline. Wow!

What is "FIST"

A small group of us like watching fights. We don't like having them, and we prefer to watch them in a digital format. Some like the old traditional boxing classics, Clay, Liston...all the legends. Others prefer modern boxing with modern "greats" (if there really are any "greats"!) Still others love the UFC, and the evolving group of skills known as mixed martial arts.

We decided to form a little society so that we can enjoy these pugilistic talents, end the working week off in a relaxed fashion, then, if anyone cares for a refreshing sherbet afterwards we can do that too.

FIST (Fighting interest society, Taipei) meetings will be on every now and then on Friday afternoons from 3.30 finishing just an hour later at 4.30 at different apartments...we'll let you know!
